Meet Deborah Trevino, of Treco Services, Inc., a full service company providing Janitorial Services, Paper Supplies, Pressure Washing, Ground Maintenance, Window Washing, Floor and Carpet Services, and Facility Maintenance.
Each year, WBENC presents 14 women business owners with the prestigious Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) Star Award, the nation’s premier recognition for excellence among certified women-owned businesses, honoring female owners for their leadership skills, business success, and ability to serve as an inspiration to others.
Meet Deborah Trevino, President of Treco Services, Inc.
Treco Services was started back in 1983 with two people and two commercial buildings. Deborah and her business partner provided janitorial service, restocking of restrooms, dusting, sweeping, and mopping for both of those buildings. When a third commercial building was added, Deborah and her partner hired their first two employees. Deborah took over the business from William Trevino and and Tom Kroger when they decided they did not want to move forward in the janitorial industry.
Since then, Deborah has grown Treco Services by hearing the needs of her clients and delivering a solution. This philosophy of delivering exceptional customer service is simple and humble, but it’s one that has allowed Treco Services to become highly successful. By 2009, the company employed over 500 people. But when the economy took a hit that same year, the company did, also. Deborah considers that time as the greatest obstacle she and her company have had to overcome. And overcome they did. Deborah realized she needed to step aside, trust God, and not give up. She continued to push forward, living one day at a time, building one moment at a time, and getting through one year at a time.
She credits the company’s involvement with WBENC for things turning around by opening doors to corporate accounts and allowing them to grow throughout Texas.
Although Deborah never thought she’d be the President of a WBENC-Certified enterprise, when she finally attended a WBENC event and saw the strength, perseverance, and support of all of all of the members, she was convinced that becoming certified was the right choice. Recently, Treco Services received the Service Company of the Year award, which Deborah says was one of her proudest moments as a business owner.
Deborah is “The Navigator” because she has maneuvered rough waters and stayed the course to emerge triumphant.
Today, Deborah shares her guiding words for newly certified WBEs, her advice for new entrepreneurs, and what she views as benefits of being part of the WBENC Network.
What advice do you have for a new entrepreneur?
Don’t give up on yourself. You have to wake up in the morning and give yourself that pep talk to embrace the day and every challenge that comes in it, and don’t be afraid to make changes… change is good!
What guiding words would you like to share with a newly certified WBE who is looking to get involved in the WBENC community?
Becoming certified and familiarized with other affiliates, and becoming a part of their certifications as well, will help you build relationships and strengthen your ability to grow.
What do you view as benefits of being part of the WBENC network?
Being a part of the WBENC network has become so important to me by being able to support and stand strong with other WBEs, and the opportunities that have been given now to WBEs based on the quality of services and products that we are able to deliver.
