I am often asked about the value of the WBENC network to myself and to M. Davis & Sons and my answer is always from a 360-degree perspective, because in every direction I look, I find value.
Most WBENC Corporate Members are either already customers of M. Davis or potential customers we are pursuing, and every market that M. Davis serves is represented in the WBENC America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises. There is no other organization that we belong to that has this level of market diversity. Sometimes we engage with a corporation and while there may not always be an immediate need or connection, the value of long-standing relationships in the Supplier Diversity community can sometimes eventually provide a basis for doing business with each other when things change.

WBE to WBE relationships provide value in more ways than what might be initially obvious. Other WBEs can be valuable suppliers providing innovative solutions to challenges I may have within M. Davis. I have also found that understanding each other’s business is so important to making meaningful introductions. There is always someone out there somewhere who has a need, and there is always a WBE that can meet that need! I have been able to provide introductions for other WBEs and have been the recipient of these introductions as well. Working in conjunction with other WBEs to support our customers has been hugely successful, as it enables us to provide a wider range of services, a greater geographic reach, or even the ability to perform a larger project.
There is always someone out there somewhere who has a need, and there is always a WBE that can meet that need!
Regional Partner Organization (RPO) leaders and their amazing staff are constant sources of education, connection, and support at the regional level. I have found that reaching out beyond my own RPO is very valuable, especially to those regions where I may have business or customers.
The WBENC Staff is also a vital part of our network. They are constantly providing information, answering questions, and listening to the needs of all the WBENC constituents to ensure that our network continues to be sustainable and robust.
Many times, I end up putting others in my company first when it comes to education. But I realize that I have found my own education here in the WBENC network. From Suppler Diversity professionals, to other WBEs, to programs provided by my local RPO and through WBENC Executive Education, I can confidently continue to say that I am certainly a better leader for the education that I have found here in our WBENC network.

Women’s Enterprise Forum
The Women’s Enterprise Forum (the Forum) is a select group of WBENC-Certified WBEs that are nominated by their Regional Partner Organization (RPO) and appointed by WBENC. Forum members serve on business-focused Teams where they share their expertise and knowledge with each other. Forum members are recognized as the voice of the WBEs within the WBENC network. All WBEs are invited to attend Forum sessions at our national events.
